About
Maria Chryssopoulos is an actor in theatre and film, finishing up her Bachelor of Arts degree at University of Georgia. She has been in the arts since she was a child, starting with experience in dance, and now evolving into the field of theatre. She plans to pursue the craft of theatre in Atlanta, GA, telling and creating stories about LGBTQ+ lives.
Artist Statement
My love for stories has existed far longer than me. It lives through my mother, grandmother, and continuously weaves into my ancestry. However, I feel lonely, even with these meaningful stories that have held up for generations due to it falling under the idea that I have to fit a certain lifestyle. Being a lesbian in the arts is not one of the fondest lifestyles in my household. If my younger self had those stories that people like me exist, and exist happily, so many hard times could have been lighter. Therefore I plan to utilize my skills in theatre and film to manifest the lives that have not been told, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community because every story deserves to be heard.
